It is one of the 16 national parks of tanzania, Jozani forest comprise almost 3,000 hectres which fall under protection in 2000, it is the bigest forest in Unguja island, home and habitat of endemic Zanzibar red colobus monkeys which can be easily seen during the visit to the place.
Within Jozani forest you will be guided to explore the forest with explanations of its flora and fauna then red colobus monkeys and grey monkeys will visited before taking the short walk in to the magroves trees which servive only in the salt water and play the important role for marine environmnet as they act as the breeding nursary for fishes during high and low tides as well protect the villagers against the gig waves.
Around the area we can visit also the Zanzibar Buterfly Center (ZBC) and marine turtles although they are not the part of the Jozani forest therefore they require separate entrance fees, for the tourists who are interested in the buterflies ZBC is recommended.
